CYSEC joins the GAIA-X Space initiative

Last November, 3DS OUTSCALE, CS GROUP, EBRC and RHEA Group announced the creation of a new digital alliance for space within GAIA-X, the strategic project for a federated, trustworthy and secure Data Infrastructure for Europe to Europe’s data sovereignty.

Among the numerous “data spaces” identified in GAIA-X such as agriculture, finance, health and mobility, to name a few, the data collected by satellites, or the “space data space” is missing.

The space industry generates increasingly large amounts of data following its massive development over the last two decates, with major European and institutional satellite navigation programs , communication and Earth observation initiatives, and effective traditional and disruptive “New Space” commercial initiatives.

Space-generated data is essential in many consumer and professional applications and is essential in our daily lives. Our dependency on space-generated information increases the need for this data to be handled securely, in a robust, accurate, and efficient manner, while ensuring a European sovereignty over the data.

We are excited to announce that we are joining the GAIA-X “space data space” initiative.

CYSEC proposes ARCA Space, its end-to-end security solution for the space market, adding trust to the data collected by satellites. CYSEC ARCA Space protects data in both the upstream segment, involving satellite operations with ground infrastructures such as mission control stations, as well as in the downstream segment, involving applications using the data collected by satellites, which heavily rely on cloud services for data storage and analytics.

We’re excited to join this initiative as it fits perfectly with our mission to bring security awareness to the space market, continuing our efforts with CYSAT, as well as bringing pragmatic solutions to the market such as ARCA Space. Data sovereignty is a critical topic and the confidential computing solution we developed plays an important role in making it a reality, both on ground and in space. To secure the data right from the moment it is collected on board the satellite to its processing in the cloud” said Mathieu Bailly, in charge of the space activities at CYSEC.

The consortium is growing and working on proof-of-concepts to demonstrate the benefits of a common approach for space data.
